The Holy Metropolis of Kefalonia informs all devout Orthodox Christians of the island, as well as its visitors who will be celebrating the Holy Pascha (Easter), that the traditional meeting of the Epitaph processions and the Resurrection Ceremony will take place at the Central Square of Argostoli (Vallianos Square), as follows:

Great Friday – April 18, 2025

• The Epitaph procession from the Metropolitan Cathedral will begin no later than 9:00 p.m.
• The liturgical procession will follow the designated route:
• Metropolitan Cathedral → Vergoti Ave. → De Bosset Bridge → Coastal Road → 21st May St. → Central Square
• Other parishes of the city will also bring their Epitaphs to the square.
• A common prayer and message from His Eminence the Metropolitan will follow.
• The procession will then continue along Panagi Vallianou Street and Lithostroto, returning the Epitaphs to their respective parishes.
• The Epitaph from the parish of Taxiarches will return via Rizospaston Avenue.

 The Epitaph procession will be accompanied by:

• The Argostoli Municipal Philharmonic Band (D. Lavragas) under the direction of Mr. Vasileios Perlikidis
• The Philharmonic School of Kefalonia under the direction of Mr. Alexandros Sofronis

Holy Saturday – April 19, 2025

• The Resurrection Ceremony will take place at midnight (12:00 a.m.) in the Central Square of Argostoli.
• The Holy Fire Ceremony, as per tradition, will take place in the presence of local authorities at the Parish Church of Taxiarches, following the official program.
• The Resurrection procession will then proceed to the Central Square for the Midnight Resurrection Service.
• After the conclusion of the ceremony, the procession will return to the Church of Taxiarches, where the Paschal Divine Liturgy will be celebrated.

Additionally, the Resurrection Service will also be held at a parish level in all parish churches of the city, in the courtyards in front of each church.

Easter Sunday – April 20, 2025

• The Paschal Divine Liturgy in the morning will take place only at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Argostoli, beginning with the Orthros service at 8:00 a.m.
• After the Liturgy, His Eminence the Metropolitan will receive Easter greetings at the Episcopal Residence, where he will distribute the traditional red eggs.

 At 6:30 p.m., the traditional Vespers of Love will be celebrated at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Argostoli.
